A British soldier was fined and relieved of his duties for lifting the skirt of a Kenyan woman in public.
The Sunday Times reported that Colour sergeant Barlow lifted the skirt of a Kenyan woman, whom he knew, in a shopping mall in Nanyuki while intoxicated.
According to the UK paper, Barlow’s action to humiliate the said woman was only made public last week.
The Senior officer pleaded guilty to sexual assault and in addition to being dismissed, he was fined £500(Ksh76, 100).
“It is understood that Colour Sergeant Barlow lifted the skirt of a Kenyan woman, whom he knew, in a shopping mall in Nanyuki while intoxicated. He pleaded guilty to sexual assault and alongside dismissal was served with compensation order of £500,” the UK publication reported.
A British Army spokesperson described the officer’s conduct as disgraceful.
“This was appalling behaviour from the senior non-commissioned officer,” the spokesperson said.
