Over the last one week, former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has taken it upon himself to expose alleged malpractices by some judges and lawyers.
In a series of posts on his socials, Sonko has been publishing video recordings implicating his former lawyers Cecil Miller and George Kithi.
Sonko is accusing the lawyers of colluding with Justices Said Chitembwe and Aggrey Muchelule to rule against him in his impeachment case.
By Monday, Sonko had published five parts of his exposé titled “The rot in the Judiciary”.
This prompted lawyers Miller and Kithi to move to court on Monday when they obtained orders barring Sonko from further publishing any exposé against them pending a hearing of their case.
The court has also barred Justice Chitembwe’s alleged brother Amana Said Jirani from publishing anything on the two lawyers. According to Sonko, Amana Said served as a proxy for the embattled judge; he allegedly solicited and received a bribe on behalf of the judge.
Chief Magistrate H.N.Nyaga further directed the two advocates to serve Sonko with the order and court papers by close of business Tuesday.
“Pending inter parties hearing the defendants(Sonko and Said Jirani) are hereby restrained from publishing further statements and articles forthwith as regards the plaintiffs,” the order states.
Sonko confirmed receipt of the gag order and indicated that he would challenge it at the inter-parties hearing on Friday.
“As a law-abiding citizen, who abides by the rule of law, I stand guided and fully comply to the same order safe that I will challenge the same order at the inter-parties hearing,” Sonko stated.
